What Parts Need to be Serviced?
5 Easy Steps to Clean Your Air Conditioner Filter
The air conditioning filter is one of the most important parts that need to be kept clean or routinely replaced to ensure its operational efficiency. When an air filter becomes clogged with dust, dirt or grime the systems performance begins to decrease which can lead to more problems and even higher energy consumption costs, typically 5% – 15% more.
01
Locate the Filter
Locate your return ducted and air grill frame and undo the thumb screw or sliding clip which is holding it in place.
02
Open the Filter Frame
Carefully swing open the frame towards you and let it hang.
03
Slide out the Filter
Carefully swing open the frame towards you and let it hang.
04
Wash & Dry the Filter
Wash the filter in warm water. Allow the filter to completely dry in the sun. Touch areas of the filter to ensure it’s completely dry.
05
Reinstall the Filter
Carefully slide the filter back into the air grill and swing the frame closed with it’s secure screw or sliding clip.
01
Power Off & Lift the Cover
Make sure the power has been turned off. Lift the cover on the front of the unit and carefully pull out the filter.
02
Check for Damage
Check the filter for any signs of damage such as tears or gaps in the mesh. If there is excessive damage it will need to be replaced.
03
Wash the Filter
Fill a sink or tub up with warm water and submerge the filter. Move it around to dislodge any dust and debris caught in the mesh. Change the water then submerge the filter and allow it to soak for 5 minutes.
04
Dry the Filter
Allow the filter to completely dry in the sun. Touch areas of the filter to ensure it’s completely dry.
05
Reinstall the Filter
Carefully slide the filter back into place and close the cover.
